The Power Telco Roadmap           TN00607A.gif (1499 bytes)

All power telcos are sooner or later faced with issues such as:

  • electrical power schematics
  • standardised designs
  • site specific design
  • ac and dc systems
  • managing large numbers of sites and designs
  • choosing between design options
  • designing for optimum cost and reliability
  • managing design data

Powertechnic has tackled these issues with innovative software that is simply unmatched. Consider how Analyst can assist power telcos in each of these specialised requirements:

Electrical Schematics       wpeA.gif (1538 bytes)

There is simply no faster way of drawing a schematic. Both products feature the same outstanding drawing engine and set of built-in components. Drawing schematics is as simple as point and click. The schematic is not only a drawing however, it becomes a fully functioning electrical system at the press of a button. Watch as the schematic becomes animated showing changes in voltage, current, switch state, batteries charging and discharging, faults and alarm conditions.

Standardised Designs   std.gif (688 bytes)

Standardised designs are an outstanding way of achieving cost effectiveness and consistency of application.  Powertechnic software extends the boundaries of standardisation.  Standard designs can be entered once electronically, then shared throughout the whole region or organisation. Designs can be copied and pasted between files cutting out duplication effort as never before.  Standardised communications loads can be included in schematics too.   Different loads have different discharge properties, some may be constant power others constant current, still others something in between.  Create generic AXE, System 12, DMS, ESS loads which have the exact discharge current profile that they have in real life - its all possible with Powertechnic software.

Site Specific Design   TN00054A.gif (2081 bytes)

Sooner or later a situation arises that simply doesn't conform to the standard, or perhaps you need a solution which might extend the standard design to its limits - how do you check it quickly? Suppose you have an existing power system that needs a little more load added, what effect will this have on the existing battery capacity and reliability? Suppose you wanted to know what effect high or low temperatures will have on a curb-side power system? Suppose you know that the system you are modifying has older batteries and you want to de-rate the capacity for safety reasons? Powertechnic software provides all this in an easy to use and powerful graphical environment.

ac and dc Systems     wpe8.gif (1396 bytes)

Powertechnic software has been designed to handle both ac and dc systems. Single and three-phase balanced loads are easily handled as are mains, gensets, breakers, transformers, fuses, etc Size your genset fuel reserve tank on fixed or even time-varying loads. Estimate power factor, watts, amps, VARS, kWHrs, volts, VA, and a host of other variables. Set up and test load shedding scenarios to cope with unexpected plant failures. Put systems through their paces on your desktop and know how your design will perform under the most extreme conditions. DC systems are easily handled no matter how complex. Powertechnic has developed a unique lead-acid battery model accurate enough to replace manufacturers data sheets. Accurately predict discharge times into complex loads without guess work.

Managing Large Numbers of Sites and Designs   wpe7.gif (2043 bytes)

Power telcos face unique problems of design on a mass produced scale. Managing hundreds or even thousands of design activities every year can result in error and re-work. Powertechnic provides an outstanding solution to this dilemma with software that for the first time allows telcos to store and re-use site designs electronically. This has enormous benefits in reducing the re-work involved in site upgrades, keeping site documentation and schematics current, and even in design information which becomes a part of the schematic itself.  Power telcos can keep a database of site schematics and retrieve them at the touch of a button when site information or modifications are needed. Reduce the effort needed in site-audits by keeping a database which is easily and effectively updated as required.

Choosing Between Design Options   wpe5.gif (2462 bytes)

Power telcos are often faced with decisions between two or more design options that can't be separated on reliability grounds. Even simple power systems are beyond the ability of experienced reliability engineers to assess, what hope does the field engineer have? Analyst breaks down this barrier using the latest break-through technology available only from Powertechnic. In a worlds first, Powertechnic has produced a software tool with enormous implications for electrical design engineers and one that will quickly re-define the way engineers carry out reliability studies.  Reliability assessment no longer needs to be relegated to the domain of guess work and gut-feel, Analyst is so effective you will be left asking why someone didn't think of it earlier.

Designing for Optimum Cost and Reliability   BS00044A.gif (2229 bytes)

Power telcos deal with power systems that must be designed to the optimum reliability for the available budget. Every so often something comes along that leaves designers with choices that may differ by hundreds of thousands of dollars. Analyst is like a power expert on your desktop, providing you with an informed second opinion on some of the more difficult issues that will inevitably cross your path.

Design Data      BS00877A.gif (1713 bytes)

Critical design tasks need accurate data. Powertechnic has developed a unique data certification mechanism known as CertLock. One of the main drawbacks of conventional software modelling tools is not knowing if the software components have been adequately tested and certified. CertLock resolves this by encrypting power equipment data with the certifying authority. Tested or certified components are easily distinguished from those that are not.  Users can choose to use only those components that have been certified by a recognised authority.

Our suite of software products will help you through the most demanding aspects of power design, planning and analysis.   It takes only one use of the software before it pays for itself.  One customer told us he saved $AUD400,000 in just one application.
